Healthy Food Hub pilot at E2L in 2014

Whether you grow it yourself or you don’t, you can enjoy fresh, local and organic produce! The Black Oaks Center for Sustainable, Renewable Living runs the Healthy Food Hub. Customers can order ahead online, or show up and browse the offerings from local farmers and purveyors of value-added food. Becoming a member of the Healthy Food Hub (for an easy $25 per year) helps to support each week’s market day. In summer 2014, we piloted several Healthy Food Hubs hosted by the Harvard School of Excellence in the school lunchroom.

The Healthy Food Hub’s website explains they are “…committed to saving nonGMO and organic seeds, growing food organically with density and extended season while building a local food security system.” Learn more about Black Oaks farmer training program based out of Pembroke Township, Illinois.

Log onto HFH’s website to learn more about their selection or simply come to the next market day and browse. Pre-orders also allow you to have your order already bagged and ready for pick up before you arrive.

Healthy Food Hub CSA/Buying Club
